Whenever you go on a vacation in a foreign land you always have to get accustomed to the ways of the people in the land you're visiting. Life in your Annex houses is quite different than life in the homes of people who live in Italy, France, Bosnia or China. Each of those countries have different languages, different cultures, and different ways of life. You can't just expect to visit a country like China and have things be just the way they are back home in your Brampton condos.

Even if you aren't planning a trip to China haven't you ever wondered what it would have been like growing up in China? Just how different would it be then living here in North America in your piece of Halton Hills real estate property? The one main difference we can think of right off the bat is the People's Republic of China's family planning policy. Or, what it's more commonly referred to, as the one-child policy. In order to curb the country's high population rate the government came up with a policy that limited the number of children a married urban couple could have to one.

Of course there are some restrictions to that rule but almost 36% of the country's population is being subjected to the policy. If you grew up with siblings just think how different your life would have turned out if they weren't there with you if you were to have grown up in China. Or, what if you weren't the first born in your family? If your parents had been living in China and had to follow the orders of the one-child policy you might not even be here today working at a mortgage Oakville firm. Kind of scary to think about, isn't it?

The one-child policy might also have a lot to do with the high standards placed on children in Chinese families. You see a lot of people from China come study in universities or colleges in North America and they put such a high standard on themselves. That might be due to the fact that parents in China want their children to be the best at whatever they want to do and won't settle for anything else. Having only one child places all the burden on them to succeed. Whereas parents in North America tend to care more about happiness than results. North American parents would rather worry about the childrens fitness tax credits they're supposed to be getting than how high of a math score their kids got on their test. That's not to say that education isn't important; it's just not the end of the world if their kid brings home a less-than-stellar report card.
